‘I could imagine Jesus being born in the camp’ said Giles Fraser, departing canon chancellor of St. Paul’s cathedral. He was one of the only Christians to have made any comment that showed signs of real thought.
He was imagining the scene as the Police prepared forcibly eject from their doors a peaceful protest (that had not been allowed to protest where they should have been - the financial district).
Police had been using thermal imaging cameras to make the argument that the tents were mostly empty - ‘a load of bollocks’ said the camp leaders, taking the time to prove it.
His gesture has now thankfully lead to the withdrawal of proposed legal action to remove the protesters…imagine the scene as the world news reported riot police going in on this small, peaceful collection of people like they did on the miners in the 80s.
